Name: | bai xiang hua {白翔华} |

Birthdate: | Jan 1 |

My name is Xiang Hua. I am nineteen years old and a consort of the emperor. I do not know it yet, but wars will be fought over me. Men will love me, and they will die for me. I will be more beloved by the people than any empress or queen, but I will also be just as hated. I will die at the hands of those I have never wronged, once the drums of war fall silent and the dust has settled. I will be mourned greatly, and history will always remember my name. I know none of these things, and yet I know this. When I die, I will die alone. And there won't be a soul in the world who will have ever known the true 'me.' Xiang Hua is pseudo-historical OC set in the Tang Dynasty. He's the orphan of a much beloved imperial consort, raised by his mother's peers. Because only eunuchs are allowed to serve in the court, he was hidden by his caretakers by raising him as a girl. They meant only to disguise him, but he caught the Emperor's eye as a young teen. Though his guardians feared disaster for him, when the Emperor discovered his true gender, he spoke nothing of it and kept Xiang as a consort all the same. Xiang's true gender remained the court's best kept secret, and the Emperor grew more enamored with him by the day. However, a young general came to court one day and became smitten by Xiang Hua as well. He was intelligent and ambitious, and from that day he worked with others to sway court politics so that a rival of the Emperor's might take the throne with the condition that Xiang Hua was to go to him as a wife. Political tensions heightened in the years that followed, and a full rebellion broke out. The Emperor fled the capital for his own safety as the young general's troops advanced further and further inland. Xiang Hua was intended to join him, but his carriage was stopped by imperial guards who blamed the rebellion on him. Xiang Hua had been spotted fraternizing with the young general leading the rebellion on several occasions, after all. As he was being detained, the capital fell to the rebel forces and Xiang Hua was captured. However, the Emperor's rival who intended to take the throne now that they'd captured the city went back on his word and decided to have Xiang Hua for himself upon setting eyes on the acclaimed beauty for the first time. Loyalties split, the rebel army broke off into two factions and fought each other in the streets with Xiang Hua locked away with the Emperor's rival. Once the Emperor-to-be had sated himself with the young consort, he left Xiang Hua with a handful of guards while he went to see how the battle was faring. The guards were angry, unable to accept that their brothers were out there dying for something as petty as a woman, however beautiful the face. They'd joined this fight for something they believed in. They discussed it amongst themselves briefly, growing more enraged the more they thought about it. Finally, they turned their swords on Xiang Hua, to put an end to this madness once and for all. *This is all meant as a lighthearted bit of conjecture and isn't meant to be historically accurate. Think of it as a one-person c-drama. ;') Historically, Xiang Hua inspired by Yang Guifei, but his story takes place in an alternate history on a world much like ours but slightly different. That sort of deal. o7 |
